Children experience a mix of reactions when it comes to going to school.
Easing back after holidays can range from feeling really excited and eager to concern, fear or anxiety.
Amongst the biggest worries of preschool children are feeling left out, being teased or saying goodbye to their caregiver at drop off.
Prepared Environment.
Teachers and support staff of Taraji Africa Academy understand how difficult it can be for learners to settle back after vacation/settle to a new school. We have always made it easy for our learners to settle back and into new environment.
This is made possible by the welcoming and soothing environment. Class displays are carefully and creatively created to sooth and offer a calm and comfortable environment for leaners.
We are unique.
We understand and appreciate the uniqueness of each learner this helps us to build positive relationships with our learners and their parents which makes it easy for them to settle down in school.
Foster Social Skills.
Learners appreciate a friendly and social environment. We are kin to help them develop connections amongst themselves. We help foster positive social skills and acceptable morals. This will encourage positive attitude towards school environment.
Safe and secure environment.
Children are born explorers, we have created a safe and child friendly environment for children to explore freely. This helps them settle down easily because the environment “talks to them “
Attractive class displays.
The class display comprises of easy, fun and age appropriate activities for children to interact with easily and stress free. The activities are placed from simple to complex. This helps to learners to calm down and ready for more structured activities.
Basic ground rules and routines.
We always work closely with learners to come up with basic class rules and routines. Children, just like adults need routine. We have made it a routine to remind them of what they could have forgotten every day during our circle time.
Play as we learn.
At Taraji Afrika Academy we “play as we learn “As the old adage goes “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy! We are always keen to make the transition easy by involving them in educational games. Games are the greatest way to help in settling learners.
Child Centred Approach.
We also make school and learning fun by always making sure that the learners interests are put into consideration. Every day starts with non-challenging and interesting activities to bring confidence to the learners.
Foster Communication.
To foster communication, we always allow children free time to share their experiences, this helps in creating, friendships and strong bonds amongst them. As teachers we also practice good listening skills this fosters confidence and trust from the learners.
“New Day surprises.”
The teachers ensure that each day is a surprise for the learners. We come up with activities that trigger excitement in learners, new songs, class activities, creative activities like painting, modelling, even changing learning environments. All these helps ease the tension that might be associated with school and learning.
We always ensure that we link home and school by creating positive bonds with parents. They are key factors especially in supporting learners in the settling down process. This builds trust as children are left with the teachers. Parents are always involved in their children school activities, through fun day activities, sports, and open day sessions.
